You Might Be An RV Full Timer If...

Having spent over 2 months(!) in an RV, I can tell you all what an RV full-timer does that’s quite different than what all of you anti-nomads do. It’s surprising how many changes there are. So without further ado, you might be a full timer if…

  1. Checking your roof for debris is part of your weekly routine.
  2. Your neighbors are always changing.
  3. You never know what day of the week it is.
  4. You compress your house to almost half it’s size every week or so like they do in cartoons.
  5. The view from your bedroom window never gets old. (In fact, it’s always new!)
  6. A clean, easily accessible bathhouse is cause for rejoicing.
  7. You wipe all food particles off your dishes instead of rinsing them because you don’t have a disposal.
  8. You wear the same 5 outfits 6 months out of the year.
  9. Showers don’t last longer than 4 or 5 minutes.
  10. When you flush the toilet, you press a pedal with your foot to open up the valve instead of flipping a lever and letting the toilet do the rest.
Living in 300 square feet means the following:
  1. It’s really easy to clean up your toys.
  2. Finding a lost item takes about 5 minutes max.
  3. Cleaning the inside of your house top to bottom takes 1 hour or less.
In all, we have many different methods and ways in the RV, and we are still adjusting to this new lifestyle. So tell us, are you a full timer, or not?

Haha! Love the post. We full-timed it for 13 months and truly enjoyed it. The routines do get easier. That said, I don't miss dumping the tanks and squeezing in spots that are too small for a large RV. Funny, we still scrape our plates into the trash even though we now have a disposal (better for the pipes anyway!). Longer showers are nice, but we do miss the ever changing views and neighbors. The simplicity of the wardrobe and finding lost items is also dearly missed. The RV sub-culture is truly special. We found that the RV park is the great equalizer of society! And we never met an RVer that didn't have a positive outlook or wasn't super nice and helpful.

great post, Will! I guess I am not a full timer. However, your post on living inside 300sq ft has inspired me to clean out the basement and attic of stuff we no longer need. 😂 Good to hear you all had fun in CO. Have fun in the Lone Star State. Keep the posts coming!
